walking (blister!)

I rolled my ankle in my grass doubles league last Wednesday night, so that put the kibosh on walking or anything else for a few days. Luckily, it wasn't a bad sprain. The ankle seemed OK by Saturday, so I walked 6 miles yesterday. During that walk, I managed to get a blister *under* a callous on my left heel. I don't understand how that happens, as I thought callouses were helpful in preventing blisters. Apparently, I thought wrong.

thanks to new donors since my last post:

Chuck Hale at MassHighway, and
Rachel Allgaier, another vb chick.

And congrats to Rachel and her fellow walkers in the Relay for Life in Wallingford/Meridian CT, who raised a whole boatload o' cash for The American Cancer Society!

happy sunny monday!

More thanks

I've been walking on and off, but not with any consistency. It's now about 9 weeks to the walk, and I need to get in gear on training. This should be easier with better weather (fingers crossed!).

Many more donations have come in since I last posted:

Gretchen Von Grossmann, principal of Von Grossmann & Company;
Kathe Gregory of Von Grossmann & Company;
Dave Pickering, Monday CR vb teammate;
Jim Purdy of The Louis Berger Group;
Sudhir Murthy, principal of TrafInfo Communications;
Steve Wong, fellow vb addict;
Maggie Campbell-Jackson principal of Howard/Stein-Hudson;
Jim Danila of Howard/Stein-Hudson;
Michelle Langone of Howard/Stein-Hudson;
Rose & Dad (again! =);
Chris Ryan of Howard/Stein-Hudson;
Charles Goguen, fellow vb player; and
Lisa Schletzbaum of Tetratech Rizzo.

Thanks to all. My current donation level is at around $1900, so I still have a little ways to go to get to my required amount ($2200). Keep those donations coming!
